I was returning from a trip to mail some packages before noon with an afternoon filled with clients and customers. My office is in my country home. I was being careful and mindful of the icy road conditions here in WI in January.
I took the right turn onto our country road very slowly in my “Little Red Angel”, a name I gave my Spectra Kia when she was new in 2007. I took good care of her, with oil changes and tire rotations regularly.
As we rounded the turn, she was not able to straighten out so she kept in the turn mode. Slowly we went to the top of small snow piled at the edge of the road. It was all slow motion and I couldn’t stop the movement. As we went over the top of the snow, I could see below and where we were headed. Luckily nothing was in the way to obstruct the ride down into a snow covered field below. So I just let it go, I guess I surrendered to the forces. I felt no fear. It was happening in slow motion, so I just enjoyed the ride! There wasn’t anything I could do to stop it, not that I knew then!
I can relate to other times in my life when I didn’t have control. What I’ve learned is that becoming afraid, frustrated, or even angry, didn’t help the situation at all. I learned that most situations will be resolved eventually and the sooner we release and let go of control, the sooner we move out of fear, disappointment, anger, and other feelings with low vibration. Instead having learned this lesson, we can then find balance, calmness, confidence and peace. I have enjoyed the benefits of that learned lesson many times! When this situation with icy roads presented itself, it was a fairly easy choice to let my “Little Red Angel” do what it was going to do, and I chose to simply enjoy the ride.
