It’s all about love when it comes to essential oils. I learned about essential oils in 2002 and quickly found their effectiveness in using them for myself and my Mom who had Alzheimer’s. I loved them right away and started teaching free workshops to share their benefits, especially to caregivers. I felt they needed them for their own peace and joy and also for the people they cared for.
In 2003 and 2004 I presented at the State Alzheimer’s Conference and by then I was doing many health shows with my own creations. I listened to cassettes over and over to learn and remember the many properties and benefits of each individual essential oil. I continued to love and teach essential oils classes and share what I learned.
In 2006 my sister who had struggled for 5 years with metastasized breast cancer died. The evening before she left she asked me if she could come to my house. Of course I told her yes. I believe her spirit was asking for permission to come to help me spread the word about essential oils and the lymphatic system. In April 2007 at a Health Fair in MN, a thermographer asked if I could create a breast oil. I was thrilled for the opportunity to create an oil blend that could help women with breast health issues.
I researched which oils would be beneficial. I believe my love of essential oils and inspiration from above, guided me to choose the oils that were needed for breast health:
Frankincense, Boswellia carterii with significant amounts of d’Limonene, stimulates the immune system, wards off infection and discourages metastasis.
I felt Rose Geranium, Pelargonium graveolens is a woman’s oil to balance, regenerate tissue and in addition I learned that it opens the liver to discharge toxins.
Lavender, Lavandula angustifolia, also is to regenerate cells and has been shown to be very beneficial to eliminate anxiety and fear and bring calm to the body.
I learned citrus oils with high amounts of d’Limonene promote tissue repair and a study on Pub Med show Sweet Orange, Citrus sinensis improve abnormal cells.
Lemon, Citrus limon helps to purify the immune and lymphatic system
Marjoram, Origanum majorana, was chosen to ease congestion and there was a folk lore about it being the “Joy of the Mountains” and our breast are mountains, (big or small we love them all).
Rosewood, Aniba Rosaeaodora, was chosen for the beautiful blending characteristics, and later was substituted with Nerolina, Melaleuca quinquenervia-chemotype LN, an Australian oil which helps lift the spirit and makes the blend exquisite and unique.
Rose Absolute, Rosa damascene, was chosen because it raises the frequency of every cell, offers emotional balance, well being and love to the body.
When I first started blending Healthy Girls Breast Oil, I mixed the 3-4 carrier oils in a 2 quart pitcher. I purchased bottles, created labels, and started making the new product, adding “love” as I dropped essential oils one at a time in 1oz bottles. I thought they looked like little soldiers with their helmets (caps on the bottles) as they were ready to go find the women who need them. I “hired” (traded reflexology sessions) someone to help me fill and label the bottles.
I had no idea about how I was going to market them. My dear friend knew we needed to have education about the lymphatic system so we had a graphic designer create a Lady Lymph poster and I used that to talk about the lymphatic system and the importance of doing a self breast massage to move the lymph.
I contacted a breast health advocate in New Jersey and received permission to use her phluffing technique and add Healthy Girls Breast Oil to her brochure which I copied for my use. I was affectionately known as the phluffing lady after I was asked to go on stage at a women’s health event and demonstrate the phluffing technique, which was simply bending over and gently and lovingly bouncing and moving the breasts.
I created a simple Go Daddy website in 2008 and started to collect names for a email list. Through the encouragement of my friend thermographer, I obtained a Registered Trademark. After doing in incorrectly myself the first time, I hired an attorney. I started selling wholesale to thermographers because they had the same mission as I did to help women with natural breast health.
In 2009 I looked for a company that would make up a quantity of Healthy Girls so it would be consistent. I traveled to Iowa and Minnesota but I finally found a company in MA that offered to extrapolate my oil blend with organic jojoba oil. She sent me 2 gallons at a time and I still had to fill the bottles and label them.
In 2011, I decided to make changes to my Breast Oil and make it a sustainable product with another company. I replaced Rosewood with Nerolina (Melaleuca quinquenervia-chemotype LN), one of the many Australian Melaleucas. I chose clear jojoba oil instead of organic jojoba oil, with its beautiful light and silky feeling, creating an exquisite body and mind rejuvenating blend.
I was encouraged and created a separate website for Healthy Girls Breast Oil which I found was too confusing for everyone. So after a year went back to one website with two names.
I also created a beautiful educational more feminine Lady Lymph poster which explains how the lymphatic system works. This is a perfect visual at health shows to educate about the lymphatic system. I offer it wholesale in a large size and the 11” X17” size. The smaller hang card has two sides showing Lady Lymph on one side and the lymphatic self breast massage on the other side and can be used as a reminder for women who want that.
Wanting to reach more women, I hired an independent contractor who did a good deal of marketing for me. She found it was not easy to convince businesses to take on my product. After 6 months, a few new wholesale customers and my savings depleted, it was time for me to work alone again. I hired a bookkeeper to reconcile my books… another blessing.
Today my main business is with thermographers all over the country and a few health stores scattered throughout the US. My product is endorsed by Dr. V, of Breast Cancer Conqueror and she mentions Healthy Girls Breast Oil in her best Selling Book “7 Essentials for Breast Health”. We have an affiliate program on my website for people to sign up and receive commission for any referrals.
By introducing essential oils and love to the mind as healing agents, peace takes the place of fear. Healthy life-style changes bring love to the body. too. When you accept and appreciate your body you bring love and happiness for your well being.
